Dear Mr. Roehm and family,

I know this is a very painful time for all of you. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers today and during the coming weeks. Thank you for letting me participate in caring for Jannie and your family in your time of need.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jannie's family. We have known Jannie through karate for the last 9 years. She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She always greeted everyone with a pleasant attitude, sense of humor and smile. She never once complained about her illness and was always upbeat and friendly. Jannie was inspirational during her long fight and an inspiration to so many. God bless. And yes, there is another angel in heaven tonight. We will miss her greatly.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. You are in my prayers. Your mother is at peace and singing with the angels.

All our Love,

Karen and family
It seems there aren’t enough eulogies to describe Janie. She was, as so many others have put it, a warm and friendly face that greeted you at the desk of the Cicero LaVallee’s Dojo. Even under the most hectic moments Janie didn’t miss a beat. She could answer the phone, make change for another student and still say “hello” as you walked in. Her passing marks the loss of a woman to admire. She set the bar high. She balanced work, her home life, karate and exercising, while at times struggling with cancer. And just like typical Janie, she was helpful and encouraging through it all. She was and will be revered not only because she earned a third degree Black Belt, but because of her courageous battle with cancer and unyielding sense of strength. Sadly she will be missed.

I am so sorry for loss of Jannie. I will always remember her as an angel of great strength, courage and love. We spent a lot of time training together in karate. When I was going for my 1st degree and she was training for her 2nd , I had the privilege of being her partner. I look back now and I know in my heart she was a gift from God. She was my best cheerleader! She taught me to dig deep and fight hard for what ever my goal may be ~ on or off the floor. Thank you , my friend.
I will continue to run in the Susan G Koman race in her honor. She will remain in my heart always. I love you Jannie!
Our heartfelt condolences to your family. For all the years that we attended LaValles, Jannie was the sparkle that you were greeted with when you walked through the door. Always a smile and a laugh, always a warm hello and always time for a hug or a conversation. She was and is one of the nicest people that we have ever called friend. A class act that loved a good joke. She will be missed and remembered with fondness. I am sure she is showing God a good front kick. God Bless.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to your family. Jannie was one of the nicest people we've ever met. She always had a smile and a pleasant comment for everyone. I remember her saying that she tried to be friendly to everyone because "you never know what someone is going through." Everyone can use a kind word, and her kindness and enthusiasm was contagious. We are all better people for having known her. I believe a little bit of Jannie lives on in everyone she touched. I know that on this upcoming power weekend everyone will be thinking of her with fond memories and great respect. Take care....
We have had the pleasure of knowing Jannie for the past several years through the Cicero dojo. Jannie has been such a beacon of light and a source of support for me and my son who struggles with a terminally ill disease. Jannie and Luke always shared stories of "pokes and pukes" and kept each other going strong. She always made time to give him a special hug and smile when he was feeling well enough to run all over the dojo. And our other son, Seth, he has known Jannie as a mentor, a role model. Jannie has taught me so much about being a martial artist as well as a mom to a sick kid. Her smile, dancing eyes, personality and being will be greatly missed. This world is certainly better for having had Jannie in it. Jannie touched so many lives and through them she will live on.
Seth would like me to pass along that he "is very sad" for you. And Luke, would like you to know "that I know Jannie is ok and happy because in heaven there is no pain, no pokes and no puking. And when Jesus came down, Jannie took His hand and went home, and Jesus never lets go". God Bless, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Anne & Arman Bernardo and Seth and Luke Renk

I am so sorry for your great loss. I met Jannie when I started taking my 4-year-old grandson to karate 9 years ago. She was always so friendly, kind, helpful and supportive to the children. As he grew older, he began to become friendly with her, always looking forward to some smiles and banter with her when he arrived at karate. She hid well her fears, anxiety and discomfort of her 6 years of dealing with her cancer. I don't know anyone who does not have wonderful things to say about your wife/mother/grandmother/daughter/sister. She surely is in Heaven and you were blessed for many years when you had her. I know your loss is unbelievably painful and my heart goes out to you.

Sincerely,

Sharon Dwyer

My fondest memories go back over 20 years ago when I worked with my MSK "family".
We laughed together, cried together and shared our lives with each other.
It was there that I became friends with Jannie and worked with her for many years.
There will always be a special place in my heart for my friend "schmelma" and the laughter and joy that she brought to my life.
May you find comfort during this difficult time.
Love, Liz

I cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Jannie was one of the best people I have ever known. She always had a smile on her face that lit up the room, and no matter how upset you were she could always bring a smile to your face and put you in a better mood. I will always remember when I worked the front desk at karate with her and the little notes she left me everytime I would work, always having a :) at the end. It is so unfortunate that she had to go through this battle, she never let it get her down and was so positive through everything. I hope that others with cancer will look up to her strength and optimism and live the best they can. Although we would never want her to be taken from us, now she no longer is feeling any pain. She has impacted many peoples lives, mine especially. Jannie will NEVER be forgotten, and of course will be missed more than words can explain!
All my love, God Bless... Xo Xo Xo

"HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST

God saw she was getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around her
and whispered, "Come with me."

With tear-filled eyes we watched her
suffer and fade away.
Although we loved her deeply,
we could not make her stay.

A Golden heart stopped beating,
hard-working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
he only takes the best
